Art is not restricted to paint and canvas; fashion can be art too. We have earlier seen haute couture as a form of art with Valentine’s day flower dress entirely made of 1,725 roses, Edible chocolate gowns and most expensive designer dresses like the $275,000 gold coin gown. Now, designer Zac Posen redefines haute couture with his masterpiece, a 24-karat gold gown worth $1.5 million. The designer teamed up with Magnum Ice Cream to create a one-of-a-kind couture gown inspired by their newest Magnum Gold ice cream bar. The sleeveless gown with a plunging neckline and train designed to recreate the melting ice cream effect, is made entirely from more than 10,000 24k gold sequins in five different sizes which were hand-created from sheets of 24k gold.
“Creating my first-ever 24-karat gold dress was a truly priceless experience,” said Posen. The decadent gown was designed in a span of two weeks and the delicate gold sequins were sewn in the dress using a special embroidery technique to accentuate the female shape.
“Ice cream and fashion represent decadence, sensuousness, and luxury — something you wear or eat for your own indulgent pleasure,” Posen adds.
The gown will be worn by Brazilian actress Caroline Correa in a short promotional film “As Good As Gold” for the ice cream, and will make its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 18.

The luxury outdoors is no longer all about the hi-tech BBQ grill and weatherproof furniture, every element in the patio has been re-imagined to make your backyard your private luxury oasis. From hi-tech heaters to patio umbrella, its only getting better to suit our modern lifestyle. We have earlier seen the Cantilever umbrella that rotates up to 360° to follow the sun andMocha Solar-lighted umbrella that include solar charging capabilities. Now Hammacher is also selling a USB charging patio umbrella for $500 each, which will help power your mobile and hand held devices, purely from what it derives from the skies.
This patio umbrella has been fitted with 3.7-volt 1000 mAh battery, that’s constantly getting charged for back up power via the solar exposure outside, and thus acts a store for electricity which can be used later for charging. Under normal conditions, the solar panel located on the top of the umbrella, helps convert solar energy into electricity, which can then be transferred to the battery of the various devices via the USB port, located on the lower end of the aluminum umbrella pole. The umbrella is around 9-feet in diameter, and the fabrication is well capable of diverting the harmful UV rays elsewhere, with upto 98% protection. The UPF rating is known to be 50+, which incidentally is the highest possible UV protection rating currently used.
Just in case, one would like to wrap up the outside sitting and take things inside the home, the umbrella can be closed easily with a hand crank which is as smooth as one gets them on such umbrellas. The powder coated finishing on the pole gives it a decent weather resistance and a firm grip as well. In short, its all about being nature conscious and tech savvy which is the new lifestyle we see in the top 12 solar innovations, much of which features gadgets such as these.

When bags, shoes, and clothes undergo changes in the haute couture world of fashion, why not the sunglasses? From the conventional fabrication and design, to using unconventional and rare materials like wood, gold and even stone with fancy shapes and sizes, sunglasses seem to be traveling the style timeline and delve into a whole new dimension. We have earlier seen the jeweled editions like Chopard gold and diamond glasses which were incidentally the world’s most expensive sunglasses with a price tag of approx. $408,500. Then came Clic Gold most expensive eyeglasses, which introduced its patented magnetic front connection system, with the construction of solid gold and anti-reflective sapphire coating. For those who love bling, there were the Vintage Frames Diamond sunglasses which used 2,000 VS quality diamonds each put selectively on the vintage retro style frames. But its not the big luxury fashion brands who have reinvented the wheel; brands like Gold & Wood and Shwood Eyewear of Portland, Oregon, have taken the world of sunglasses by storm with their bespoke and eco friendly eyewear. We have earlier told you about Shwood wood eyewear made from the Oakwood barrels used for brewing Irish whiskey. Looking at the trend, and the difference it has bought about in the fashion world, the likes of Lady Gaga and Sir Elton John, who are famous for their eyewear collection, has certainly got busy with their second passion for collecting the best trendsetting sunglasses.
Shwood Canby Stone / White Slate Eyewear
Shwood Eyewear, known for using the rarest and most abstract of materials for their exotic eyewear has introduced its latest collection handcrafted from layered slate-stone and premium quality birchwood. The lenses used here are 100% UVA/UVB ray proof from Carl Zeiss, which altogether comes packaged in custom made leather embroidered leather patch. Perhaps they have been very aptly named as ‘Stone Collection’, where they combine the refinement of design and rugged texture generally associated with stones and wood. Limited to just 200 pairs, each of them bear a price tag of $325 a pair.
Hardy Amies Eyewear
Then comes the Hardy Amies eyewear, from Claire Malcom behind Savile Row tailoring house, who relaunched the brand big time. The brand’s latest collection doled out unique round shaped glasses, crafted from crystal acetate. Inspired from the 1930′s Ada frames, Hardy Amies SS13 sunglasses collection features different shapes and fabrication style, namely Carlton, Maryland, Randolf, and Clifton. Prices for the range start from £240 ($366).
The Montblanc Eyewear Collection 2013
Montblanc is another brand known for their craftsmanship, exquisite materials and timeless style. The Montblanc Eyewear 2013 collection shows classic shapes and shades, but with the use of ultra-refined fabrication, for both men and women. The Montblanc Montevideo frame for that matter brings in the use of rose gold, a favorite amongst jewelers coupled with acetate, a mineral deposit known for varied patterns. Wherever the gap remains, the use of rare wood is seen as well, in the handle of the frame. The lenses are available in the traditional green, black, and grey shades whereas one could pick from the matte dark grey or rose gold frame.
Montblanc has bought in something for the ladies as well. The shapes here are classic with big round frames, but the finishing has been given regal touches, like the pearl finish seen here in the Luna Bay model glass. Shades like ivory or black add to the overall appearance, and maintain that elite positioning. If these dont satisfy every lady going to buy her shades, there is the Almeria model too. A rather sophisticated alternative, these grey acetate temple frames coupled with pink polished leather, and a 2-tone Montblanc logo will perhaps turn heads wherever they are seen.
Trends Summed up
- Use of cystal acetate with natural fabric patterns, birchwood, stone such as slate, shaded leather.
- Use of precious stones such as diamonds and metals such as rose tinted gold, especially on the frame.
- Shapes retained are more or less classic, older designs, but main experimentation has been with the fabrication.
Other than the ones noted above, there will always be more trend defying and abstract creations like the Sheils Jewelers’ emarald and gold glasses. The inspiration has been from what the Roman emperor Nero used during his time, to watch gladiator fights. We won’t place those to be in the best bets for wearing on a daily basis, but its designed to flaunt.
Gucci Liquid Wood Biodegradable Sunglasses
The Italian luxury brand partnered with sunglasses manufacturer Safilo, to design an eco-friendly eyewear collection made out of liquid wood – a biodegradable material which has never before been used in the eyewear sector, recycled metal and mineral glass lenses. Liquid wood, a composite of bio-based substances, such as wood fiber from sustainably-managed forests and lignin extracted from paper and candle wax during manufacturing processes, can be shaped in nearly any way through injection molding.
The luxury eyewear continues to redefine fashion with sophisticated styles in timeless shapes, to the usage of new, precious and extraordinary materials such as finest wood, leather and other eco friendly elements to add a touch of class and style.
Just in case you were wondering if there is any sense of austerity in the high-end fashion circles, Hermes blows it all away to ashes. Perhaps the perfect companion to the Daniel J T-shirts, UNICEF designer shirts, and the $400,000 diamond studded shirt, Hermes has unveiled a $91,500 crocodile skin T-shirt at its Madison Square Avenue outlet in New York. 100% pure crocodile leather, this t-shirt perhaps takes a shot at those who are looking for bugetory cuts, or have taken the path of animal friendly fashion in recent times. Perfect fit for a uber rich wardrobe, the fabrication is known to be from the skin of the rare Nile crocodiles, which currently cater to the top brass fashion brands for the expensive fabric skin.
The Hermes store in Madison Avenue in New York has a policy of not letting anyone take photographs within their stores, of any of the items displayed. But a smart blogger managed to sneak in, to take the snap of the price tag attached to the T-shirt, which is actually a part of the range from Hermes, all sporting price tags between $60,000 and $100,000. In fact, the local taxes of more than $8,000 on top of this will ensure that the price touches the 6-figure barrier easily.
What makes it all sound even more ridiculous, is what else could actually be bought with that kind of money, which could perhaps have betterv benefits; A trip to South African forests, 9 Hermes bags, 25,000 Hanes T-shirts which one could wear over a lifetime, or even some decently tech loaded car. But for spend thrift fashionista, the black crocodile skin and price tag certainly has its charm.
Combining sophisticated design with high-end technology, the modern kitchen and bathroom faucets are designed especially for the utmost convenience of the users. For the ones who desire to take the lead, these lustrous and feature-packed faucets are surely a great way to begin. We have seen a range of luxury faucets in the past and here we are with the best of them. Hit the jump to see our picks for the world’s most expensive faucets that scream luxury.
We had gone bonkers for the Year of the dragon, but the story doesn’t end here when it comes to the year 2012. After the hoopla regarding the mythical Chinese animal and the special year has been rubbed in, the British royalty have a lot coming for them, especially in the space of home décor, and more specifically, bathroom décor. Inta has created a diamond studded faucet to celebrate the Queen Elizabeth 60 years on the throne of the British Empire. This also coincides with the 10 years of operations for the company, after which they ended up creating a tap, which might be the most luxurious in the world today. Cynthia Fisher, who has been the brain behind this bejeweled bathroom fitting, has left no stone unturned to make this one truly special. In the ornamentation and blinging of the faucet, there have been 10 heirloom quality 10-carat diamonds which sit at the center of the fitting. Along the sides there are 50 quarter carat diamonds, which gives the whole set a shimmering and truly royal appearance. This is something that could definitely make it to the next shopping list of Her Majesty, and perhaps even some of the fashionistas who are known to flash their cash around. But as the folks from company are putting it, this faucet will only be befitting for those who have a taste for something this extravagant, and yet very classically aesthetic. Obviously with a price tag of $47,600 its not even targeted at the millionaires.
Architect Nilo Gioacchini’s Oz collection faucet has been tweaked to the max by Master of goldsmith’s art Professor Alberto Cotogno, winner of the International jewel Oscar. The luxurious faucet is completely made in gold and is mounted with 282 natural diamonds for a total carat weight of 10.24.
The new X-Sense Limited Edition gold faucets from Newform are festooned with embedded Swarovski crystals. The sparkle of the precious stones complements perfectly the gold finish of the taps. The X-Sense Limited Edition faucet is a sensation thing to buy for those who are pretty serious about making an everlasting impression.
These luxurious faucets are made all the more covetable with the use of sparkling Swarovski crystals. The Glamour Classic is rendered in precious metal finishes such as chrome, nickel, silver nickel, bronze, gold, gold glam and antique gold.
The stainless steel Kohler Karbon Articulating Kitchen faucet utilizes carbon fiber for extra strength and less weight, while staying within the bounds of the design. It also has two spray modes. You can be in complete command with this hands-free faucet, as it won’t be in your way when you don’t need it. With a modern, textured user-friendly surface, this faucet is finished in gleaming polished chrome.
Fima – Carlo Frattini’s Brick Chic is a furnishing element that creates an attractive and elegant statement, which ensures your bathroom is as glamorous as you are. Brilliant creativity, cutting-edge design and continuous research has enabled the firm to create this collection that ingeniously combines a refined design with high-quality components and care for details with the preciousness of the original Strass Swarovski Crystal. The diamond-style cut and the special facets introduce a new harmony into the environment, making it alive and glittering. The astonishing shine creates a stunning play of lines and reflections, in an unusual balance of light and shade, thanks to its unique transparency and high refractive index. Made from chrome plated brass, the Brick Chic faucet is equally beautiful and delivers a smooth jet of water, which evokes the beauty of a natural waterfall. Compact, long-lasting and self-cleaning, the Brick Chic taps come with a Safety Function, designed to avoid unpleasant burns and increase energy savings, thanks to a high-temperature and water-flow limit stop. If you are looking for a classy piece of furnishing that’s capable of stirring shimmering emotions, the Brick Chic from Fima is the thing.
The Hybrid flexible faucet by Paini helps direct the spray where you need it to be. It also even features a LED illuminating dial that changes according to the temperature of the water. It’s red when hot and blue when it’s cold.
Combining sophisticated design with high-end technology, the SmartFaucet by iHouse brings the utmost convenience. Using a facial screening application, the iHouse Smart Faucet recognizes the user and automatically turns on the water to the preferred temperature and flow. The touchscreen on the top of the faucet can be used to access email, check your calendar, check the outside temperature, among other things.
Miscea’s new generation Sensor Activated Faucet/dispenser gives you not only water but also soap and a choice of disinfectant/lotion without touching the faucet. Designed by Mathis Heller, WeLL Design, the MISCEA is made of stainless steel and its elegant design is accentuated by the interactive user interface. The faucet’s head is made of laser engraved glass with LED lighting so when you point your hand to the control sensors, the indicated section will get activated. The hi-tech faucet even allows for motion controlled adjustment of water temperature.
The X-Touch from Newform Italy trades analog knobs or levers for buttons so you can regulate exactly what temperature the water is. It has a digital readout to show you the temperature.
Inspired by the fluidity of water itself, the Zaha Hadid faucet from Triflow Concepts creates continuous flow from source to drain. This faucet includes both a metallic color and a ceramic core.
Geeks would love to own this one. A touchscreen panel on the Frattini electronic faucet controls the amount of water dispersion, desired temperature and even the flow of other faucets in the house.
We have seen beauty, glamour and Feng-Shui in kitchen spaces to fulfill both practical and aesthetic functions, however, a prototype designed by Jasper Dekker intends to add a magical spell through his Spatial Interaction faucet. Designed with the goal to add hygiene in your kitchen, Jasper Dekker has integrated touchless interaction in this kitchen tap that reacts to meaningful gestures to control water flow, like cold water, hot water, multi-stream water flow (shower-like flow) or a single-stream water flow.
Improved technology has been at the core of new bathroom fixtures for a long time now. The plain bath fixtures have now given way to smart faucets that offer dramatic silhouettes and cutting edge technology for utmost convenience. Now, VADO has unveiled its latest v-touch basin mixer that works on touchscreen technology. The v-touch basin mixer features a touch pad to change the water flow and thermostatically-controlled temperature which is reflected in the digital display. The red and blue dots and numbers subtly glow through the white Tecnoril material and are easily visible. The sleek curves of the white body are complemented with a matte black spout arcing through the body. Besides this digital faucet, VADO has plans to expand its collection with the latest in digital showering and wall mounted spout options for the basin and bath later in the year.
Most of us think that it’s a bit hard to find luxuries that suit the daily chores of our life, but the Swan Faucet with its elegant aesthetics and simple technology offers the utmost convenience in a graceful manner. Designed specifically for the modern country club, particularly for the club’s dining or ballroom restrooms, the Swan Faucet is skillfully sculpted in organic curves of a swan to make the water flow down its neck. The water flow is activated with a simple tap on the faucet’s head and a tilt of the spout determines the stronger water pressure and also allows the user to control water temperature by turning the water head to the left or the right. Besides adding a luxury touch to your bath space, the Swan Faucet’s form and functionality is bound to attract admiring comments.
Touchscreen technology is making life simpler even if it’s in the bathroom. We have seen the best of hi-tech faucets in the past with touchscreen panels. The latest is the eco-friendly Shark faucet by Italian bathroom brand ST Rubinetterie. The Shark faucet designed by Simone Micheli features a minimalist faucet design with touchscreen controls on the top itself for utmost convenience. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing or availability at the moment.
The Italian company Fima Carlo Frattini is here to impress us the homeowners with the Nomos faucet. The high-end kitchen mixer offers a perfect mix of form and functionality for the utmost convenience of the users. The mixer allows the users to adjust water quantity, pressure and temperature. Moreover, it alerts you of malfunctioning (system malfunctions or leaks). The touchscreen with big graphic icons help you manage the flow and other things easily. If you are planning to swap your lacklustered and outdated faucet, the Nomos faucet by Fima Carlo Frattini is definitely worth consideration.
Debbie Wingham had done it with the most expensive black diamond dress which had 50 crafted 2-carat black diamonds, making history in the haute couture circles. Now she is back to creating dresses with gemstones, as she showcases the ‘Abaya’, a Middle Eastern themed women dress, worth a staggering $17.7 million. The dress has been designed keeping in mind, the ethos of Dubai which Debbie greatly admires. This time around, she had managed to embellish 50 white diamonds weighing 2-carats each, apart from a rarest of the rare red diamond which is incidentally the largest and most expensive in the world. Though she has celebrity fans like Kate Winslet, Hillary Swank, and Dita Von Teese, one will always be left wondering as to who would actually end up buying this dress.
The central stone, based on which the price tag of the dress has come up this high, is the single red diamond which is one of the rarest varieties of the stone. It is said that out of 100 million diamonds found, one is a true natural red as this one is, and even if it is found, its too small to be picked out and polished. For something of this size, the current value to the diamond is the region of $7.44 million (£4.89million).
Craving for more information, it is found that there are 50 flawless white diamonds, weighing 2 carats each, apart from 50 black diamonds weighing 2 carats each, and 1899 pointer diamonds of whom get set in platinum. After this, the Abaya is known to have over 200,000 stitches all done in gold threading. To add a even special touch, the handcrafted beading work has given the flower at the back of the dress, a ‘raised’ look.Since Debbie Wingham is known to be a fan of the Dubai culture, she has shown the Middle Eastern metropolis as her centre of launch for the dress, where she will be holding meetings with special guests, who may be interested to buy this outlandish garment. Tijans atelier Dar Tijan, is the exclusive chain of Dubai based boutiques which will be showcasing Debbie’s crafted Abaya.
What makes Debbie’s effort very special, is that she is a self-taught designer. At the age of 18, she had learnt a part of the art from her seamstress mother and started trading at the Greenwich market. Later she opened her first outlet in Hoxton, before moving to the British capital, London at the posh King’s Road. Her dresses were previously worn by celebrities at BAFTA and gained fame for being called ‘The Best Dress’ worn for the function in 2005. With her destination towards Dubai, she would certainly get her name in more prominent places now.
More than 86 years and with considerable consistency, luxury retailer Neiman Marcus has been gathering fanfare among fashionistas and design aficionados for various product ranges. We draw memory from the 2012 Christmas gifts, Limited edition Fighter motorcycles, and the Camaro convertibles which were incidentally sold out in 3 minutes alone. So this year, the fashionable elite, more so the ladies can prepare their shopping lists for the Boyarde Messenger hand painted high-heeled shoes, which bring to life many different art genres via the footwear range. What this range also reminds us of, is the eccentric bunch of socialites and celebrities, who would start clamoring sooner or later for their pair as soon as they lay their eyes on them. Some names would be Kim Kardashian, Tamara Ecclestone, and Celine Dion who are known for their footwear collection.
Designer Charlotte Olympia is the person, whose ideas have come forth in the form of these artistic shoes. She has drawn inspiration from various artists, and their genre of artwork before transferring them to the decorative form of these unique shoe collection.
She then partnered with body paint specialist Boyarde Messenger, who then transferred the art on to these specific pumps which will be carrying works like Pablo Picasso, Howard Hodgskin, Vincent Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, and Piet Mondrian. In fact, she painted 100 exclusive pairs for the Neiman Marcus Charlotte Olympia project alone!
The shoes by Olympia are more popularly called ‘Dolly’, and perhaps it now becomes clear why. While some would be more than enough interested to wear them as part of their outlandish getups, some would collect them as a part of their claim to the tag of ‘art shoe collector’, though there might not be one of them we know just as yet.
Since this is almost going to be a visual fetish of abstract footwear, one could also take a look at some other pieces of notable pairs, such as the most expensive shoes for men, and the most expensive footwear for women.
When dancer, model, and actress Deta Von Teese does something, or in this dons something, it remains etched in the memory of her fans and fashion geeks alike. This time, she managed to gain the shutterbugs’ attention by wearing what happens to be the world’s first fully-articulated 3D printed dress. At the Ace Hotel in New York City earlier in the week, the sassy Von Teese turned up in the fully constructed black gown, which is known to have been created with nylon fiber with more than 3,000 joints as a part of the design. Fitting rather sensuously around the star’s curvaceous body, the cameras clicked with impunity, and she seemed to be enjoying the attention for good. While we saw her in the dress, we were left wondering if Lady Gaga is getting her designers to create a special and indeed outrageous edition of the outfit already!
According to details furbished in media so far, the dress has been created as an exclusive piece by Dita’s designing studios called Francis Bitonti and Michael Schmidt. Due to its unique construction, there are 3,000 reported joints in the gown which will fit perfectly on the person wearing the dress, which perhaps is a way to get the ‘sexy’ tag but with innovation.
Designers also reveal that the gown has over 12,000 Swarovski Crystals, throughout the dress and they have been placed uniquely by following the Fibonacci sequence. This gives it the unique appearance and fitting which can be seen in the photos of actress-model-designer here.
Technically speaking, the floor length dress has been created with the help of Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technique, in which the special fabric is built up layering plastic powder together with a special laser gun.
The components created especially are then netted with each other to create the dress, but these fittings have been done keeping the Fibonacci sequence in mind, and the shape of Dita Von Teese’s body. This actually is the reason why the garment fits so very perfectly on her. This would also mean that any garment such as this one, will have to be created on a customized basis, against the order of some fashion crazy celebrity.

This Paris Fashion Week we’ve seen enough crazy hairstyles to last a lifetime. And these were not styles sported by quirky bloggers and fashionistas on the front row – but the catwalks of the biggest designers on the world.
Most recently we had quirky Cara Delevingne walking for Jean Paul Gaultier wearing a cheap acrylic mullet, with the texture of her toupee a better match for the furry trim on her coat than the hair on her head.
Karlie Kloss had been given the same treatment at the Gaultier show, along with a host of other models, whose serious facial expressions did nothing to belie the fact they must surely have felt slightly silly walking the runway with what looked like skinned gerbils clinging to their heads.
Models on the catwalk modelling Af Vandervorst’s collection in Paris resembled Cousin It from the Addams Family. One wonders how they were able to see through shaggy dog style fringes that covered their eyes, which left only a brightly painted mouth exposed.
Haider Ackermann sent models down the Paris runway with wild spiked over-bleached tufts of hair with black roots as Rick Owens showed models with huge, frizzy, windswept hair. The look was billowing, ethereal and untamed – but still a brave look to try yourself.
Junya Watanabe presented wild piles curls illustrated with bright lips that got us thinking whether the inspiration came from a vision of DJ Annie Mac in a wind tunnel.
All the while Givenchy sent models sporting hair resembled old fashioned swimming caps. Pin curls, a classic 1920s style, were brought into the Andy Warhol era painted in dusty bright blue, red, orange and purple.
That’s an interesting look! Haider Ackermann send models down the Paris runway with wild spiked over-bleached tufts of hair with black roots
Junya Watanabe presented wild piles of curls illustrated with bright lips that got us thinking… was the inspiration a vision of Annie Mac in a wind tunnel?

“Launching my own label is a dream come true for me,” he told the press. “Even though I have a lot to learn about fashion and the industry, I do know what I like and the small details that make something stand out to me. I look forward to evolving the line with more colors, fabrications and offerings to show the other dimensions of my style progression over time.”
According to reports, the “Finally Famous” line will feature select designs of t-shirts, hats, pants, sweatshirts and jackets. Vibe also got an exclusive look at some of the emcee’s new clothing items in its upcoming February/March 2013 Style issue.

In the last few years, Ford has made a tentative return to London – one of his several home bases – with a series of exclusive, invitation-only presentations, but today marked the first full-fledged London catwalk show of the Tom Ford brand.
Of course he did it Ford style, in an elegant ‘royal home’ typically used for international diplomatic conferences, not fashion shows. Those with coveted invitations had to wait in the cold and show their passports or other IDs to satisfy royal security requirement before they could be let into the hallowed halls.
Vogue editor Anna Wintour and singer-actor Justin Timberlake – who is currently collaborating with the designer – sat side by side in the front row, with chandeliers and gold-painted ceilings overhead.
Feminine and flattering: Sequins and lace abounded, while jackets offered high neck collars and dramatic shapes
Ford draws a more elegant crowd than many other of the London Fashion Week designers: Many men wore beautifully cut suits and carefully chosen pocket squares, while women wore black outfits set off by exquisite jewels.
Everyone seemed content to sip Laurent Perrier champagne or gin and tonics while Ford let the start of the show slip from late to fashionably late. But, when it began, it was worth waiting for.
Inky black spider-web lace was worked into skirts long and short, with the dark fabric set off by brightly coloured sequined jackets. Elsewhere, the contrast was turned on its head, with a black jacket brought to life by an explosion of vivid sequins stitched in a floral motif on a pair of trousers.
Ford also made use of leopard-printed coats and bright pink fur (faux?) and – in a nod to the 1960s – soft black leather jackets with fringes in the back.
Other outfits emphasised a basic colour palette of black and white in interesting contrasts, playing on a zebra-striped theme.
The outfits were demure without being dull, feminine and flattering without being twee (never a word you’d hear mentined in the same breath as Tom Ford, that’s for sure).
Ford, who keeps homes in London, Los Angeles and Santa Fe, made a brief appearance at the end of the show, wearing one of his signature slim-cut black suits and giving his fans a wave.
The general consensus? London hopes Tom is here to stay.
Confident: Ford was bold in his use of colour and folkloric floral motifs, and used sequins and crystals to create vibrant patterns on silk
Graphic: A monochrome palette ran through the show like a seam, grounding the brights
Making a statement: No one could accuse Tom Ford of being a shrinking violet
Beautiful creatures: Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake attend the Tom Ford show tonight. RIGHT: Man of the moment Tom Ford greets the crowd at the end of his show
Genius is never obsolete, and this hold true for today’s ultimate travel trailerBowlus Road Chief. Historically, an aircraft designer named Hawley Bowlus back in 1934 started building the feather-light 1,200 pound travel trailers ‘Road Chief’. Unfortunately, owing to the Great Depression Hawley stopped manufacturing Road Chiefs, and resumed work on aircraft. In those times, another entrepreneur Wally Byam adopted the basic design and started producing similar trailers in year 1936, under the Airstream name, the manufacturer of recently launched ‘Land Yacht’ Concept Trailer inspired by the luxury yachts, and the classic 1954 Airstream caravan, the Victorinox Special Edition Airstream, and the 2011 Eddie Bauer Airstream travel trailer. And in the decades that followed, the Bowlus brand and the original design were virtually forgotten, except by few of devoted collectors. But now the Bowlus brand has come-up with a bang with the release of an aerodynamically engineered, all-new Bowlus Road Chief. Described to be a mobile metal sculpture, the adventure-ready Road Chief boasting a streamline design impressively shares the best of the original, classic style, and efficiency, all in a soap-bubble-light aircraft-grade aluminum shell; perfectly adapted to 21st century conditions.
Inspired by timeless American style, and expertly handcrafted from honest materials for a lifetime of adventures, the new Bowlus Road Chief that looks like a rolling art, is actually the most modern, aerodynamic travel trailer, which is equally ready for an afternoon inspiration, a relaxing weekend getaway, or an ambitious cross-country adventure.
The Bowlus Road Chiefs boasts Zen-like stateroom’s V-beds which easily reconfigures from ‘twins’ to almost a ‘king’, an efficient SMEG kitchen, full bathroom complete with shower, AGM batteries and 120-watt solar panel to offer power supply, smart electronics and multiple storage options.
Gucci Mane is back with the second installment of his Trap God mixtape series. La Flare has recruited Lil Wayne, Young Scooter, Wiz Khalifa, OG Boo Dirty, Verse Simmonds, Rocko, Lloyd and more for features
For years, Lil’ Kim has been known for her colorful hair styles, but after a recent night out in Los Angeles, it’s safe to say no one was looking at her locks.
The rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones, stepped out on Feb. 1 with an almost unrecognizable face, including what appeared to be lighter skin, fuller cheekbones and a smaller nose. Her new look comes several months after reports began surfacing that Lil’ Kim had undergone plastic surgery.
After rising to fame in the late ’90s with hit singles like “No Time,” “Magic Stick” and a remake of “Lady Marmalade,” Lil’ Kim served one year in a federal detention center in 2006 for lying to a Federal grand jury about a shooting involving a friend. She competed on Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars in 2009 and is next expected to release her fifth studio album sometime this year.
Some took to YouTube, while others (like 50 Cent) tweeted to express their thoughts on the Maybach Music boss and his latest drama. And on Tuesday, Southern rap pioneer Uncle Luke took to the Miami New Timesurging Rozay to proceed with caution
“Trust me, you don’t want to go out like Biggie Smalls or Tupac. It’s time you squash your beefs,” the former 2 Live Crew rapper wrote in his open letter.
On January 28, Ross and his girlfriend were driving near his Fort Lauderdale, Florida, home when he reportedly heard multiple gunshots causing him to swerve off the road and crash into a nearby building. The rapper’s vehicle wasn’t struck and he and his girlfriend walked away without serious injury. The suspects fled the scene, but since the incident there has been a ton of speculation about who would want to take the star rapper out.
In December Rozay canceled a number of his MMG tour dates after persistent online threats from a street organization known as the Gangster Disciples began to make headlines. The Teflon Don MC later brushed off the threats in a radio interview and insisted that the show cancellations had nothing to do with any gang activity. Ross has yet to comment on the January shootings, but many, including Luke, believe there is a direct connection between the attempt on his life and the GD beef.
“You have the Gangster Disciples breathing down your neck because you’ve named-dropped Larry Hoover, the gang’s founder, in your music. Unlike the record and book publishing industries, these bad dudes don’t understand the concept of public domain,” Luke wrote. “They see you getting rich forever by rapping about their leader, and they don’t like it. That’s why they’re on YouTube talking about how you need to go see them and cut a check.”
On one hand, Luke’s letter came from a place of concern, but he also expressed some criticism against Ross as well. Ever since it came to light that the “Hustlin’ ” rapper once worked as a corrections officer, the validity of his raps have come into question.
“All this gangster bullsh– is jeopardizing your career,” he scribed. “Hip-hop has a rich history of college guys who never committed a crime rapping about moving kilos of cocaine and taking out snitches. Every gangster rapper takes on the role of a real hood legend to build up street cred. But I don’t want you to fall into the trap of believing you are really a gangster.”
