Mase had a 16 year contract with diddy WTF, Get details

December 17th, 2012 | By love not hate

It’s obvious that Ma$e felt at home on the “RapFix Live” couch during Wednesday’s “Big & Best of 2012″ edition of the show, because when the rapper-turned-pastor sat down, he told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth when it came to his laborious dealings with Bad Boy Records.

After revealing that he was finally released from his stymieing 16-year contract with the label that Diddy built, Ma$e shared the story of how his demo became the artist formerly known as Puff Daddy’s platinum debut album, No Way Out.

Ma$e Talks Getting His Career Started And Answers Twitter Questions

“We just put our heads together and Puff said he was gonna be the artist,” Ma$e explained to Sway. “I stayed in the studio, helped write and he came up with the records. He wanted to do the records that I wrote and he just started rapping on ‘em and then he said ‘I’ma put you on the record with me,’ so that’s how it happened.

“Everything I had for myself that was like my demo, that became his album,” he continued. “Then I was thinking, well, ‘how can I do it again?’ He worked with me to become the artist that I became, doing Harlem World, so it was just a collective effort.”

The rapper, born Mason Betha, rode shotgun while Sean Combs successfully made the switch from producer to rapper on his Billboard chart-topping opus. One of the most commercially viable singles on the album, “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” became Ma$e’s coming out party. It was the song that took the Murda out of Murda Ma$e.

“Before I got signed to Bad Boy, I grew up listening to Snoop and Tupac and my hood was all Tupac driven,” Ma$e said. “I was such a hardcore rapper and then when I got with Puff, he was like, ‘I already got Jadakiss, I already got the Lox, I already got Biggie. I don’t need any more hardcore rappers.’ So I was like, so what am I gonna do? They call me Murda Ma$e. He was like, ‘we gon’ lose the Murda, we gon’ clean you up, we gon’ get your hair cut, we gon’ take that hoodie off and I was thinking, what would that look like?”

After the song became a homerun hit on radio, it was time for the visuals. The clip, directed by veteran auteur Paul Hunter, showcased Ma$e as an MC that was more likely to dance around in shiny suits and rock presidential Rolexes than spit hardcore rhymes in a hoodie. But according to the “Feel So Good” MC, doing the jig was all Puff’s idea.

“We got in the first video and he started dancing and everybody was just standing there thinking, what are we doing? Like no, what are you doing? He was dancing around me and everything,” Ma$e said. “This was ‘Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,’ so they was blowing smoke and we got on all white. I made a mistake and cut too much of my hair off, so I was having a real bad day and then he just kept dancing and I remember Groovy Lou came in and said, ‘Man, hit this, you need to loosen up.’Ma$e Reflects On His Career And Talks Getting Back In The Game

“I was sitting there thinking, man, he’s really dancing on this,” he continued. “He was really going, so I was like, man, I can’t let this dude show me out. I know how to dance. That’s how it all started. And then it worked so well, that I was like, wow, I know a few more moves than that. So then we started dancing in the videos and before I knew it, we were falling out the sky and flying.”

The Harlem spitter went on to drop his debut, the multiplatinum Harlem World, that same year (1997). Two years later, Ma$e released his sophomore LP Double Up, but right before the album dropped, he announced his retirement from rap. He later returned to the mic in 2004 with his Welcome Back LP, but his comeback was short-lived as his contractual obligation to Bad Boy prevented him from pursuing other deals, like the one presented to him by G-Unit CEO 50 Cent.

Who Do These 3 Little Beauties Belong To? [PHOTO]

July 12th, 2012 | By

Diddy‘s little girls are growing up! He posted a couple of pics to both his Instagram and Twitter account of his 3 beautiful daughters with Kim Porter, D’Lila and Jessie Combs (5 years old twins) and Chance Combs (also 5 years old) whose mother is Sarah Chapman.

Kim Porter once stated that her children with Diddy would never meet the daughter Diddy fathered with his other lover Sarah Chapman. Guess she changed her mind!

They are so beautiful!

Which Legendary Producer Dissed Diddy?

June 27th, 2012 | By

Legendary producer, Quincy Jones–who’s roster boasts greats like Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and more–has opened up about his feelings on music mogul, Diddy. According to the Huffington Post, at an event for Spotify, Jones stated that Diddy “couldn’t recognize a b flat if it hit him.” He went on to say, “P. Diddy has a doctorate in marketing–” referencing Diddy’s clothing label and liquor success.

Even though Diddy’s one of the most recognizable names and brands in Hip-Hop, his musical talents are limited to having a great ear and recognizing exceptional talent. That’s part of being a producer, no?

Well, I guess when you’ve put in over 60 years of work, you are allowed to make a few rude comments to those that have come up underneath you. Shots FIRED! I wonder if Diddy will respond

NYPD Investigating Diddy Vehicle Escort

April 28th, 2011 | By love not hate

MYFOXNY.COM – The NYPD insists that an unauthorized police escort of Sean “Diddy” Combs lasted only lasted one block — from a theater on West 34th Street to the Lincoln Tunnel entrance.

The NYPD is investigated why on-duty cops helped Diddy’s car caravan get to the tunnel.

Sources close to Diddy said he never personally made any request, although people with him did.

The entertainment mogul’s former security director said that is not Diddy’s style.

“I’ve worked with Sean for close to 20 years, and never once has he or anyone close to him asked me to call the NYPD for a special favor,” said Mike Zimet, an executive protection specialist.

The NYPD would not provide us with a list of dignitaries who do qualify for escorts, but it doesn’t appear that Diddy’s ride did. In his case, the request came from a local businessman who said he didn’t see anything wrong with asking for a favor.

Zimet said the pros would never make that mistake.

“It’s astounding how many celebrities, a-list and b-list, are in the city every single day,” Zimet said. “If the NYPD extended themselves to help every celebrity, they wouldn’t be able to do their real job.”

The NYPD did not respond to Fox 5′s request for an explanation of its dignitary protection guidelines..

The department does have a program for uniformed cops to get paid by private businesses in extra duty work, but no one is saying that was the case here.

There’s A Charlie Sheen, Diddy & Snoop Dogg Collabo In The Works?

March 29th, 2011 | By love not hate

Charlie Sheen who was once famous for being on hit show “Two and a Half Men,” but now is known around the world as a self-proclaimed warlock and tiger blood enthusiast, has been very busy since launching his full scale assault on former employer CBS. From amassing 1 million Twitter followers in one day and thus making it into the Guinness Book of World Records, trying to hire an intern (from 75,000 applications), fending off attorneys and ex-wives, giving rambling interviews to practically every news station in the country, and writing material for his one man show, it seems like Charlie Sheen’s name is everywhere, and on everybody’s lips.

And as PopEater reports, now the hip-hop community is starting to take notice and wants a piece of the action. Diddy was seen at Sheen’s house over the weekend, and while no details have been reported about what the meeting (read: party) was all about, if the photograph Sheen twit-picked of himself and Snoop Dogg (along with former Korn member Robert Patterson) at a recording session, is anything to go by, perhaps a Diddy/Sheen collab is in the works too.

Of the recording session with Snoop and Patterson, Sheen tweeted; “Warlock meets his makers-music makers that is @SnoopDogg @robpatterson666 get ready to rock the Sheenius within!”

I have no idea what this music is going to sound like, but you can practically guarantee that, judging by Sheen’s track record, even if it is a hot mess, the track will be a hit. Although, I’m not sure that’s a good thing…

Last Train To Paris” Isn’t Exactly Raking In That Dirty Money

December 31st, 2010 | By love not hate

Last week, Diddy was all proud that his heavy promo convinced 100,000 people to go pick up Last Train To Nowhere. This week? Not so much, we think.
The album dropped from number 7 to number 44 on the Billboard Hot 200 charts, after moving roughly 30,000 copies in week two. It’s gonna be a slow crawl to Platinum for Dirty Money.

But it’s not all bad news for Urban music.

The week’s highest new entry comes from Jamie Foxx’s “Best Night Of My Life,” which parties it up at No. 6 with 144,000. It’s Foxx’s third straight set to see a late December release, following “Unpredictable” (issued on Dec. 20, 2005) and “Intuition” (Dec. 16, 2008). The latter set opened at No. 3 with 265,000 while the earlier album climbed in at No. 2 with 598,000 (before hitting No. 1 the week following).

Eminem’s “Recovery” is right behind Foxx, flying 15 rungs to No. 7 with 137,000 (up 100%). It benefits from sale pricing in the iTunes Store and also zips 15-1 on the Digital Albums chart with a whopping 513% jump in sales.

Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday” stands at No. 8 for a second week, selling 133,000 (up 36%).

Keyshia Cole’s “Calling All Hearts” is the list’s second biggest debut, starting at No. 9 with 128,000. Her last album, “A Different Me,” was released, coincidentally enough, on the same day as Foxx’s last effort, on Dec. 16, 2008. “Different” launched at No. 2 with 322,000, one step ahead of “Intuition’s” 265,000. Both albums were blocked from No. 1 that week by the woman who reigns this week: Taylor Swift. Her “Fearless” set was in its third non-consecutive week atop the list, selling 330,000.

Closing out the top 10 on the Billboard 200 is Rihanna’s “Loud,” climbing one spot to No. 10 with 111,000 (up 33%). Right behind her at No. 11 is the debut of Keri Hilson’s sophomore effort “No Boys Allowed” with 102,000. Hilson’s first release, “In a Perfect World,” debuted and peaked at No. 4 in April of 2009 with 94,000.

We definitely didn’t expect Keri to break 100,000 copies her first week. Guess the ho sh*t paid off.

Diddy Grants “Wish” On Twitter, Hooks Up Follower With New Year’s Eve VIP Tix In Vegas

December 27th, 2010 | By love not hate

Diddy, who did his collegiate studies at Howard University, just made the Twitter dreams of a fellow Howard student come true.  Find out how Diddy used Twitter to spread holiday cheer inside…

Sometimes all you have to do is ask.  Brandon Crump, a student at Howard University, made the bold move to go on Twitter to ask Diddy for passes to the VIP-filled soiree Diddy will be giving In Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve.

“Yo @iamdiddy…me and my friends are staying in the Luxor for NY…can we get some bison love on your NYE party?” Crump tweeted at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Less than five minutes after he sent the tweet, other followers started tweeting Diddy begging him to hook Brandon up.

An hour later, Diddy responded:

“@XclusiveCrump what up- u trying to party on new years eve in vegas? holla back.”

And Brandon did holla back, sending Diddy his number.  And Two hours later, he received a call from Diddy’s assistant who said Diddy himself would be getting in touch with him soon.  And later on in the evening, Puffy called Brandon and made his wish come true.

Brandon said Diddy told him “You ask, and you shall receive. You were persistent, and you believed—not only that, but you got the entire Howard network to support you.”

And what’s the advice Diddy told Brandon about the party?  He said, “Don’t be late, don’t get lost, dress fly and remember … what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

Hmmm…I have a certain Tweet I can send Idris Elba…since celebs are granting Tweet wishes and all…

Diddy Romances Kim Porter With A Caribbean Yacht Getaway!

December 23rd, 2010 | By love not hate

It’s been a busy few weeks of promoting his Last Train To Nowhere Paris album.  So what better way to wind down before the wintery Holiday than to take one of your baby mamas on a Caribbean yacht getaway.

We’ve got pics of Kim Porter getting swept off her pampered feet by Mr. Combs when you read on…

So this is what a 12+ years on and off relationship gets you?  Diddy chose Kim to take on his rented luxury yacht around St. Barts and the Caribbean.  They left out yesterday and seem to be having a blissful little time.

Is that kissing and canoodling I see?  Funny since he’s been spotted all around the world doing the same with his other chick Cassie

They brought their twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie along as they celebrated their 4th birthdays yesterday.  And he sent them and his mom Janice, who also celebrated her b-day yesterday, Twitter b-day shout outs.  And their 12-year-old son Christian came along as well.

Pics of their ocean digs:

Diddy called in to Shade 45 this morning to chit chat from the ocean.  He sounded slightly still drunk and went on about how much of a hopeless romantic..well, he said a “b*tch”…in relationships he is.  Sigh.

Oh, and Cassie….you mad?
