Jay Z makes another power move!

March 20th, 2013 | By love not hate

MANILA, Philippines – Grammy Award-winning musical artist Shawn “JAY Z” Carter has collaborated with writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann on “The Great Gatsby”—in the capacity of Executive Producer—to bring the modern “Jazz Age” energy of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s original text to the big screen, procuring, performing, producing and arranging for a soundtrack featuring some of the world’s top musical artists.

JAY Z’s contributions, woven amongst a score by long-time Luhrmann collaborator, composer Craig Armstrong, drive Gatsby’s champagne-infused dance floors, rumble in New York’s illegal speakeasies, and foreshadow the tragedy behind Gatsby’s “extraordinary gift for hope.” To articulate the film’s “1920s-Meets-Now” sound, JAY Z also comes to “The Great Gatsby” soundtrack as a performer and contributor of original music.

Luhrmann and JAY Z were introduced by Leonardo DiCaprio (Jay Gatsby), and this led to a two-year collaborative effort. During this time, JAY Z worked with Luhrmann and his team to capture, translate and contrast the feelings of Fitzgerald’s decadent era with that of our own, using hip-hop and jazz, music contemporary and period, to bring two distinct American moments to simultaneous life. They sculpted the film’s musical landscape alongside Armstrong, who worked with the director on “Moulin Rouge!” and “Romeo + Juliet.” The film’s music supervisor is Anton Monsted.

Luhrmann calls the collaboration with JAY Z “a credible and natural fit. Fitzgerald was a pioneer, famed and controversial for using the then-new and explosive sound called jazz in his novels and short stories—not just as decoration, but to actively tell story using the immediacy of pop culture. He coined the phrase ‘the Jazz Age.’ So, the question for me in approaching Gatsby was how to elicit from our audience the same level of excitement and pop-cultural immediacy toward the world that Fitzgerald did for his audience? And in our age, the energy of jazz is caught in the energy of hip-hop. Not only is JAY Z a great artist, full stop, but I had heard that he was a great collaborator. Leonardo and I were lucky enough to be present in a recording session over two years ago as JAY Z was recording ‘No Church in the Wild,’ and the collaboration grew from there.”

JAY Z said, “As soon as I spoke with Baz and Leonardo, I knew this was the right project. The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It’s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. The imagination Baz brought to ‘Moulin Rouge’ made it a masterpiece, and ‘Romeo + Juliet’s’ score wasn’t just in the background; the music became a character. This film’s vision and direction has all the makings of an epic experience.”

“The Great Gatsby” soundtrack will be released by Interscope Records.

(Opening across the Philippines on May 15, “The Great Gatsby” will be distributed in IMAX® 3D, Digital 3D and regular format by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.)

Jay-Z “@S_C_ ” Sues Chef For Nearly $2 Million

August 21st, 2012 | By

Rapper/mogul Jay-Z is usually the one being sued for one thing or another. This time, he is turning the tables. Jay-Z is suing his former personal chef for not revamping the menu at the 40/40 Club, which resulted in the business losing profits.

According to reports, Jay-Z and his former chef, Mike Shand, have parted ways after Shand was hired to run the kitchen of the Manhattan location of the 40/40 Club and failed to do so properly. Shand met Jay when he was the personal chef for Jay-Z and Beyonce‘s respective tours. After the tours, Jay asked Shand to “beef up” the 40/40 Club’s menu. Jay and his business partner Juan Perez allege in court documents that Shand “failed to perform on significant aspects” concerning their deal. Mike Shand’s failure to deliver resulted in “costing the club lost profits, loss of good will [and] alienation of clientele.”

Jay and Perez and are suing Shand for $1.5 million dollars. They allege they have not been able to replace the items and services Shand was paid to provide. Since Shand’s firing, the 40/40 Club’s menu features regular bar food with a hefty price. The nachos cost a cool eleven bucks and the macaroni and cheese is just a dollar more than the nachos.
As for Mike  Shand’s response, his lawyer Vik Pawar released a statement: “Mike’s a great chef, and it is unclear why 40/40 would contemplate a lawsuit against him. Nevertheless, we will respond accordingly when he gets served with the complaint.”With all of the money Jay-Z makes, is it really necessary to sue a chef for a million and a half dollars? don’t get us wrong. We totally understand the principle behind the matter, but the only thing Jay is going to get, if he wins, is money. Does he need anymore money? Seriously.

Harry Belafonte: Beyonce & Jay-Z “Have Turned Their Back On Social Responsibility”

August 13th, 2012 | By

Living legend, Harry Belafonte, who is known as a social activist and leader in the civil rights community, has deemed Jay-Z and Beyonce socially irresponsible!

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Belafonte expressed his disappointment with the way blacks in Hollywood have represented the race.

“They have not told the history of our people, nothing of who we are. We are still looking. We are not determinated. We are not driven by some technology that says you can kill Afghans, the Iraqis or the Spanish. It is all — excuse my French — shit. It is sad. And I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay-Z and Beyonce, for example. Give me Bruce Springsteen, and now you’re talking. I really think he is black”

My question is why does it all fall on just these two? They are not the only black famous people in the world.

Beyoncé And Jay-Z’s $400,000 Summer Getaway

July 31st, 2012 | By

If Beyoncé and Jay-Z are looking for an adult Black male to adopt, I’m happy to volunteer my services and be the best baby sitter, Popeye’s chicken getter, and resident B-Hive worshipper I can be. You know, for the month of August at least. According to Page Six, the Carter family will be having a magical time in a very, very expensive property in the Hamptons.

Want to remind yourself that you’re not in the top 1 percent?

Read on for more information about the 31,000-square-foot-home called “the Sandcastle” that they’re renting for $400,000:

The 11-acre property on Halsey Lane was built by Hamptons super-developer Joe Farrell. It’s currently on the market for $43.5 million.

The sprawling estate is fit for the king and queen of Hip-Hop, lavishly equipped with a two-lane bowling alley, virtual golf, skateboard half-pipe, a rock-climbing wall, a full bar and recording studio.

It also boasts a 60-foot heated pool with an underwater stereo system, a tennis court, a spa facility with gym and a combination squash, racquetball and basketball court with moving walls and retractable hoop — plus an eight-car garage.

In addition to a 2,800-square-foot master suite, the place includes a separate two-bedroom apartment. The estate also has what’s called a “children’s performing area,” according to the listing on Corcoran.com — perfect for baby Ivy.

After 18 months of construction, Farrell moved his own family into the house in 2009 but has since rented it out for a short time each summer at record-breaking prices. The Jonas Brothers were rumored to have been interested in it but settled on another Hamptons rental instead.

Jay-Z’s Realty Company Using ‘Harassment’ to Force Unwanted Renters Out of Condos, Residents Say

September 8th, 2011 | By love not hate

Current and former residents at a luxury building in Philadelphia partly owned by hip-hop star Jay-Z say the music mogul’s legal team has been relentlessly harassing them to leave until they give up and vacate the premises, FoxNews.com has learned.

“I’m scared of Jay-Z,” says a tenant of 603 North American Street, who because of what she claims are safety fears does not want to be named. “I’ve endured endless harassment from his team of lawyers, and I can’t take it anymore. I don’t know when this drama is going to end.”

Jay z 640

The 24-unit condominium complex was purchased by SCC North American Realty, LLC, in January of 2009. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, SCC North American Realty, LLC, is partially owned by Shawn Carter, otherwise known as Jay-Z.

“The whole thing has been so unsettling,” former tenant Liza Tedeschi tells FoxNews.com exclusively. “I’ve been in tears over this.”

Tedeschi claims Jay-Z’s legal team has been trying to evict tenants at his four-year-old building.

“They filed a lawsuit against me knowing that I had paid the rent. The lawyer admitted it to me, yet they still filed the lawsuit against me,” says Tedeschi. “It’s total and utter harassment. They’re filing frivolous lawsuits. They gave my personal cell phone number out to what seems like every realtor in town to show my apartment. I’ve gotten phone calls at 9 p.m. on a Friday night. They’re on a coordinated crusade of harassment–everyone who’s left in the building is being sued.”

Tenant Lani Moreno agrees.

“They had process servers banging on my door, ringing my doorbell nonstop,” Moreno tells FoxNews.com exclusively. “The banging was very violent. This was happening on a daily basis for at least a week. They were yelling my name, and the names of my neighbors. I was very scared because I live alone, and it was very, very scary for me.”

FoxNews.com was shown the real estate company’s lawsuit filed against one of the tenants for unpaid rent, along with emails from the resident to the attorney stating she had paid the rent. According to the resident, her personal rent checks had simply never been cashed.

Typical rents for the 2,000 sq. ft. condo units at 603 North American Street are about $2,200 a month. A similar unit is currently listed for sale on a real estate site for $488,000.

Jay-Z’s company seems determined to evict all of the building’s renters, says Moreno. “I spoke with someone named Lillian at Starkman-Palumbo, the current property management company,” Moreno explains. “She told me, ‘You need to understand something–they want everyone out of the building.’”

So far, it seems that the strong-arm tactics are working. At least 15 tenants have moved out since May. “From what I can tell, only two other units besides mine are still occupied,” says Moreno. “The rest of the units in building appear to be empty.”

Adam Atacan, a realtor with Keller-Williams in Philadelphia, who is not involved with the property at 603 North American Avenue, tells FoxNews.com that at least seven of the vacant units are currently listed as for sale.

A letter dated July 1, 2011 obtained by FOX411 from Lighthaus Condominiums, listed at the same 603 North American Street address, stated everyone in the building was to be out by July 31. Atcan believes money may be the motive behind the alleged harassment.

“If the owner of a building is trying to evict renters, the first thing that comes to mind is that they want to sell those units,” Atacan tells FoxNews.com. “It’s an investment decision. It sounds like the owner wants to liquidate the property–he wants to cash out.”

Tedeschi and Moreno also said the building’s management company has failed to address their concerns. “They don’t respond to calls. Not being able to get to the bottom of why they’re doing this has been very frustrating,” she said.

Things were so bad at the building, Tedeschi got her state senator involved.

“They won’t return Sen. Farnese’s calls,” she said. “Can you imagine not calling a senator back? He finally had to send Jay-Z’s lawyers a letter.”

“The Senator was very concerned about the tenants as soon as he found out about the situation,” Kathie Abookire, Sen. Farnese’s communications director, tells FoxNews.com. “On August 12, he wrote a letter to Harper J. Dimmerman, who is the counsel for 603 North American Street. He expressed his concern about what was happening in the building and asked that the management thoroughly investigate each complaint and handle each tenant on a case-by-case basis, and determine if eviction was appropriate, or if it was not. The latest that we heard is that Liza was issued a stay while the matter was investigated further. Our concern is for the tenant, that they’re being treated properly, fairly and in accordance with the law. The owner of the building is immaterial. The fact that someone may be famous is not our concern.”

Even though Tedeschi was spared an immediate eviction, she decided to move out of the beleaguered building last week as she said the stress of living there had become too much.

Multiple calls and emails to Jay-Z’s attorney, representative, the management company for the property, and SCC North American Realty, LLC were not returned.

Jay-Z Spends over $300K at a Club in Miami

August 18th, 2011 | By love not hate

When Jay-Z parties … Jay-Z parties BIG.

At Liv nightclub this past Sunday night in Miami, the Hip-Hop mogul celebrated his “Watch the Thorne” album success with friends by spending around $300,000!!!

A source from Jay’s camp told RadarOnline.com, “Jay knew that Mark Cuban spent over $100,000 after the Mavs won the championship a few months ago, and he wasn’t about to be upstaged. He bought bottle after bottle of Ace of Spades and then went all out with the 15-liter bottle that cost $100,000 on its own!”

To break it all down … the rapper spent about $250K on champagne, and tipped wait staff a further $50K, which is a pretty damn good tip if you ask us!

Jay has a reason to be a happy man though, and we’re sure he’ll make all of that money back and then some in due time. It’s being reported that his collaboration with Kanye has broken a record on iTunes already for the most downloaded album during its first week of release.

And have you seen the prices for those “Watch the Throne” Tour tickets? AND THE SHOWS ARE SELLING OUT! (Yikes!)

The magazine has declared the Roc Nation mogul as hip-hop’s top earner with $37 million made in the past 12 months. He tops the list for the fourth time in five years thanks to tour sales, his ongoing $150 million Live Nation deal, and stakes in the New Jersey Nets and 40/40 club.

Lil Wayne ties with his YMCMB comrade Birdman for fourth ($15 million), Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg rack up $14 million each, and Wiz Khalifa, Pitbull, and B.o.B are among the new entries.

Jay-Z’s Manager: “Watch the Throne” will Not Leak

August 4th, 2011 | By love not hate

With less than a week to go before Watch the Throne hits iTunes, don’t expect any leaks. Those hoping to get their hands on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative album early are in for disappointment.

“It is not going to leak,” tweeted a confident John Meneilly, Jay-Z’s manager. In order to prevent the album from leaking in advance, digital and physical release dates were staggered.

Throne, which boasts contributions from Beyoncé, Q-Tip, Frank Ocean, Swizz Beatz, and more, will be available exclusively on iTunes on August 8 and at all digital and physical retailers on August 12.

The Otis Redding-sampled single “Otis” is already off to a good start, moving 47-12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in its second week. The album remains in the top 3 on iTunes based on pre-orders alone.

Tickets for the rap titans’ joint tour were available for pre-sale on Tuesday, while the general public will be able to purchase tickets starting August 8.

Producers for “WATCH THE THRONE”

August 3rd, 2011 | By love not hate

High-profile albums call for high-profile producers. So it should be no surprise that for Watch the Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye West recruited the likes of Swizz Beatz, the Neptunes, RZA and Pete Rock to help them craft a soundbed for their eagerly anticipated joint LP.

It wasn’t all about the veterans, however. The Throne also gave some relative newcomers a chance to contribute.

“They reached out to me for the ‘See Me Now’ record; I co-produced that with Kanye,” Virginia producer Lex Luger said about ‘Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy bonus track. “So after that he wanted some more material, I flew to New York, and we were just vibing for a little while. He picked, like, two or three tracks, but he really liked that ‘H.A.M.’ track. It’s a blessing.”

In 2010, Luger broke out of relative obscurity after producing Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard in Da Paint” and Rick Ross’ street anthem “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast).” Recognized for his frantic synth keys, violent drum hits and hyped-up production style, Luger has since gone on to do beats for Wiz Khalifa, Soulja Boy and Fabolous, but raised his profile considerably with the Hov and Yeezy track.

“H.A.M.” was the first leak from Watch the Throne and will now appear as a bonus track on the deluxe version of the album, as will “Illest Mother—-er Alive,” which was produced by Luger’s buddy Southside.

Like Lex, Southside gained fame making beats on Waka Flocka Flame’s Flockaveli album. With his Southern-fried sound, Southside was surprised that the Throne chose his track to include as a bonus track on the album. “It was on some straight trap music as they call it. Like, I couldn’t believe that they did that beat,” he said. “Working with them, that was crazy. That’s a moment I’ll never forget. I hope I get a lot more of those moments.”

Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph and Verse Simmonds (collectively known as the Jugganauts) are no strangers to hitmaking. Together, along with reggae/pop group Rock City, the duo helped write and produce Rihanna’s “Man Down.” For Hov and Yeezy, they experimented with dubstep on “Who Gon Stop Me” and slowed things up for “Made in America.”

The two tracks couldn’t be more different. On “Who Gon Stop Me,” Kanye and Jay deliver chest-pounding proclamations over an electro-infused dance track. “Made in America” is much more soothing, as the two MCs reminisce on their come-up. On the hook, Frank Ocean sings passionately about the black experience in America, paying homage to Malcolm X, Betty Shabazz and Coretta Scott King in his lyrics.

After getting a call from Def Jam VP of A&R Bu Thiam to submit tracks for WTT, the production pair got to work. “What we did is, we locked in a week, we just went crazy on everything Jay and Kanye,” Simmonds told MTV News of the Jugganauts’ big chance. “I remember telling Sham, I was like, ‘Yo, I think this dubstep stuff is going to be the next new flavor that everybody gotta be on. It gotta have a hip-hop feel to it still.’ ”

On August 8, fans will finally be able to hear the long-awaited Throne album, which was first announced as an EP in August 2010. The project has since turned into a full-length project that has had the rap world buzzing for the first half of 2011. The recording — which took place in Paris, Australia and the Mercer Hotel in New York City — has resulted in a 12-track album with four bonus songs on the deluxe version. The wait is almost over!

Watch the Throne Week is on! Check in with MTV News every day until Wednesday, August 10, for exclusive content surrounding the release of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s eagerly anticipated LP.

Jay-Z And Kanye West Reveal ‘Watch The Throne’ Tracklisting

July 13th, 2011 | By love not hate

The moment you’ve all been waiting for appears to be on it’s way. Earlier today dynamic duo Jay-Z and Kanye West unleashed the tracklisting to their joint album Watch the Throne which is slated to be released on August 2nd. Last week Mr. Carter previewed the album for a number of industry heads and RapFix was on the scene to catch a glimpse of the action.

According to Jay-Z’s website the tracklisting goes as the following:

1. No Church in The Wild (Feat. Frank Ocean)
2. Lift Off (Feat. Beyoncé)
3. Niggas in Paris
4. Otis (Feat. Otis Redding)
5. Gotta Have It
6. New Day
7. Prime Time
8. Who Gon Stop Me
9. Murder to Excellence
10. Welcome to The Jungle
11. Sweet Baby Jesus (Feat. Frank Ocean)
12. Love You So (Feat. Mr Hudson)

Bonus

13. Illest Motherfu–er Alive
14. H*A*M
15. That’s My Bi–h
16. The Joy (Feat. Curtis Mayfield)

Standout tracks included a pair of songs that feature Odd Future crooner Frank Ocean. Jay-Z relayed that he reached out to Ocean after hearing his Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape and wanted him to contribute to his next solo album. After their initial work went well — Ocean appears on one of two songs Jay-Z revealed he has recorded for the solo LP — Hova invited the crooner to get down on Watch the Throne too. The only other guest on the album is Beyoncé, who appears on the resounding “Lift Off,” which sounds like it was tailor-made to be performed in large stadiums.

On another particularly interesting song, Jay-Z and Kanye deliver verses directed to their hypothetical unborn sons. (Note: Jay-Z’s press representative asked that lyrics from songs not be quoted.) The Brooklyn MC recalled that Yeezy first recited his verse to him at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. “I told him I wasn’t going to get on it,” Jay-Z told MTV News of the song, adding that he thought Kanye’s verse, running down his myriad past mistakes, is one of his best ever. “The honesty of it, it’s just really cool.”

Throughout the album, Yeezy holds his own when rapping alongside Jay-Z, a lyricist of the highest caliber. Other standout tracks that feature the duo trading rap bars include a song whose beat features a chopped up Otis Redding vocal sample that many requested be played again. Another song called “Living So Italian” also got a favorable response from the room.

Jay-Z played over a dozen songs and said that he hoped to finalize the track list by this weekend. He also admitted that the album is actually on its third iteration. Initially, he and Kanye were looking to make a grandiose project with elaborate songs, but they felt that doing so would take away from its enjoyment, so they chose to pare it down sonically.

“It’s just so big and so much, you don’t want that sh– screaming in your house,” Jay-Z said, referring to their early single, “H.A.M.” “If we don’t make records that we like and represent the culture, we would be over.”

The room didn’t start thinning out until near midnight, and as the session winded down, Jay-Z started playing additional tracks, including a song whose lyrics seems to hint that it was produced by No ID. Nodding his head along to the knocking grooves, he also played a song that features Swizz Beatz that he said probably won’t make the final cut.

Back in January, MTV News’ Sway sat down with West, who teased the Watch the Throne project, saying, “We going to the South of France at the end of this month just to record new ideas.” And late last year, when we caught up with Jigga, he explained the long history between him and ‘Ye. “Kanye, he’s really like a brother to me, I’ve seen him from the beginning to where he is now, and to see him as a producer and how he’s grown as a producer and and artist, you know, for me, on another level it’s enjoyable.”

While pre-order receipts of Watch the Throne indicate that it will be shipped on “2011-08-02,” Jay-Z and his representatives did not provide a solid release date for the highly anticipated album beyond saying fans would hear it “soon.” Keep watching.

Jay Z is Gay? Beyonce has halitosis? Foxy Brown says YES! (EXCLUSIVE STORY)

April 27th, 2011 | By love not hate

In the words of ‘In Living Color’s’ Bonita Butrell [the ever-so-popular character made famous by actress, Kim Wayans], “I ain’t the one to gossip so , you ain’t heard it from me!” Hole’ up..oh snap, yes I am! And, my, oh my, have I got some tea to fax to you guys today….

As it appears on Be Stylistik [un-edited, with the exception of the "potty words"]:

Female rapper Foxy Brown just unleashed what’s REALLY been grinding her gears for all of these years.

See, when Jay-Z was 27…he “wifed up” Foxy Brown, and treated HER like she was the hottest chick in the game all back when she was only 15 years old and still in high school.

Foxy claims to have lost her virginity to Jay-Z’s “horse d*ck” way back then, she talks of him giving her GONORRHEA, plus he had her taping 3 somes with a famous actor!! Uhhhh huhhh, and that’s not all!! This known Brooklyn bipolar b*tch is also exposing Jay-Z’s love for TRANSEXUAL MEN!! Ummmm…yeah…so that confirms the GAY RUMORS!! Boooo–yaaaahh!! LOL

Yesss she’s goin innnnnn!!!!! I’m about to like her for real now!!

Also look at what Ms. Inga said about Beyonce:

“Now he is with Beyonce…Fuck that halitosis-infected heffa.”

#BYE!

I can’t with Foxy today! LOL

Ummm, yes I can because it gets way better after the jump!

#GETN2IT!!

Foxy Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, has revealed that her ticket to rap success came at a price — and that it all happened while she was underage. She says the man who put her on to the rap game, Jay Z (then 27-years-old), took her virginity when she was just 15-years-old — adding Hova (who she says has a “horse d*ck”) funded her shopping trips and pampering at hair and nail salons while she was still in high school…all to get into her panties!

But that’s not all!!! Foxy claims Jay Z is an undercover TRANNY CHASER. She says she learned that after a TRANNY began calling and harassing her, not long after Jay-Z gave her GONORRHEA. WTF?!?! Foxy says one of her sex sessions with Jay Z was all caught on tape. That’s when Foxy says she and Jay weren’t alone. Their company was the real “Wanda” from ‘In Living Color’…MR. JAMIE FOXX. According to Foxy, Jay-Z signed her to “multiple gag orders for where she, Jamie and Jay engaged in a threesome” and that not long after the incident the tape was ironically robbed from her home. Foxy insists Jay-Z had everything to do with that robbery.

Wait…there’s more!!!

Besides alleging that JAY-Z CHASES TRANNIES, Foxy says, “there was one constant man in Hova’s life.” According to Foxy, Jay-Z and LARRY JOHNSON were “f*ck buddies.” This doesn’t seem so far fetched given the fact that Jay once shared an apartment with the NBA baller who once repped Rocawear.

During her no holds barred account of her experience with Jay-Z, Foxy was reported to clearly display a strong disliking for Jay’s wife, Beyonce.

Here’s what Foxy had to say about Mrs. Hova:

“Now he is with Beyonce…F*ck that halitosis-infected heffa.”

If true, this is beyond sad. Know why? Because we’re talking about a victim here…not just a victim of an STD, but a then teen who fell victim to statutory rape. If you recall Jay-Z blacklisted R KELLY after the singer was accused of CHILD MOLESTATION. If Foxy’s allegations are true, how is Hova any different?

Hey..he’s NOT any different. He just managed to keep his homo-fuggkery out the streets unlike PUFFY, MASE, LL COOL J, BUSTA RHYMES, Q-TIP….etc, etc, etc…..Until now!!

I believe you Foxy….girrrrl!! There’s a dstinct pattern with these f*ckin rappers!! Hmmmmpphhh!

P.S. So does this mean that JAMIE FOXX had some of that “horse d*ck” too?!? *lip-twist*

Ummm…I can’t! *drops mic..exits stage right*

Did Sean Paul Come Between Beyonce & Jay-Z?

March 31st, 2011 | By love not hate

Word on the street is that Reggae star Sean Paul is writing a biography, and he admits he dated Beyonce when she was taking a break from Jay-Z.

The insider explained, “Jay-Z was very jealous . . . to this day he has a problem with [Sean Paul].”

Could this be the reason why Jay-Z prevented Sean Paul from performing “Baby Boy” with Beyonce at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Jay-Z wanted to be the only performer to share the stage with Beyonce who was his girlfriend at the time.

I need a copy of this book ASAP!

Ex-Assistant Reveals Private Details About Beyonce & Jay-Z’s Relationship

January 13th, 2011 | By love not hate

We all know how private Jay-Z and Beyonce are…but if you’re curious about their relationship, and want to know more about the couple, one of Beyonce’s ex- personal assistants takes us inside Beyonce’s & Jay-Z’s relationship. Jessica LaShawn says she witnessed the crazy love between the two back in 2003 while she served as one of Beyonce’s personal assistants.

Here’s an excerpt from an article where she discusses Jay and Beyonce’s  first time working together on a live performance, and how their love for each other was so obvious and powerful that everyone around them could see:

During the BET Awards in 2003 I witnessed the makings of a real relationship between two overly focused individuals willing to sacrifice and make time for each other in the midst of accomplishing their personalized greatness. I was the personal assistant to Beyonce while she prepared for the debut of her new single Deja Vu. I can recall having the song on repeat throughout the duration of my flight from Chicago to LA and feeling captivated by the 808’s and horns. There was something about the song that made me feel as if I were being transported to another place all in the name of love. Like most people, I soon realized that the passion hidden behind Beyonce’s vocals was fueled by her devotion and love for none other than Jay Z.

I sat there in amazement as I watched Beyonce go over every step as if her life depended on it. I’d heard all the stories and rumors that she was evil and possibly the daughter of Satan but none of that surfaced. A prime example of her down-to-earth-ness was displayed when she happened to be thirsty and it was my job to get her some water but she chose to go with me in order to ease her mind. She was sweet and reminded me of that home girl we all have that no matter what she just wants to laugh at the end of the day.

Everything was going well until Beyonce was informed that Jay Z missed his flight and wouldn’t be able to make it to the show and perform. Her face went sour as she took a moment to squat on the floor and pout. She wasn’t sad about him not doing his verse but the fact that she wouldn’t see him as soon as she’d planned. She couldn’t help but mumble to her mother that she missed him. She forced herself not to cry. Stood up and yelled from the top of her lungs…. “let’s take it from the top.” The passion and determination in her voice echoed throughout the empty theater as she stood on top of a short ladder that served as her entrance wagon.

Then a voice rang out saying “Hey You.”

Beyonce’s face lit up as she buckled her knees and covered her face to hide a child like smile followed by adorable cheeks red and wet with embarrassing tears. It was HIM. He walked in calm and cool but as he got closer he couldn’t help but smile and reach out to her and hold her while placing his head gently on top of hers and shaking it. He said hi to her mom and mentioned that he wanted to fake her (Beyonce) out and say he wasn’t coming just to surprise her and it worked. The two clicked instantly and started rehearsing but not before a hint of comfort was relaxed on their faces as they found solace within each others arms. After Beyonce let go and slowly removed her head from the chest of the man that inspired the lyrics to the song- she ran to her place- ready to start it all over again.

Every beat flowed effortlessly like water between the two. They stopped to acknowledge that this was their first time performing the song and even arranging choreography. The chemistry was amazing and I felt honored to have a front row seat for it all.

Loves it.

BONUS: Beyonce was recently in the studio for a 6-day stint with Kanye West‘s “Power” producer, Symbolyc 1 (who is also from Houston).  Here’s what S1 he had to say about their session:

Me, Beyonce, and Caleb was in the studio last night killing it! Excited about session part 2 today! 2011 Let’s Go! Got session part 2 with Beyonce today! Excited to see what were gonna create today after last nights session. God is Great! S1 2011. Day 3: A couple meetings then back in the lab with Beyonce today. Yesterdays session was CRAZY! Stay Tuned…… Not going to bed anytime soon. Beyonce got us in here working and I’m luvin every bit of it. Me and Caleb on some other right now. Lol. My last day in the lab with Beyonce today. Jay-Z Disses Birdman On “H.A.M.” With Kanye West

January 13th, 2011 | By love not hate

While the Internet was ablaze Tuesday with Kanye and Jay-Z’s new track “H.A.M.”, a number of people may have overlooked a subliminal diss Jay sent towards Cash Money’s Birdman.

The Lex Luger produced track features a line from Hov where he says, “Really, you got baby money” and adds, “(You) ain’t got my lady’s money!”

According to Forbes the line is Jay’s way of discounting Baby and his protégé Lil Wayne.

Baby previously took shots at Jay in 2009 after he was named the “Hottest Emcee In The Game” by MTV.

He was quoted saying that Lil Wayne should be “The Hottest” because he makes more money.

“I don’t think [Jay-Z] is the number one emcee in no kind of way. Wayne’s the best. He do the most and he make the most money. I don’t think no n*gga in the business make more money than us. How can you be the best if you don’t make the most money? And you don’t do the most? Lyrically, come on man, be for real, can’t nobody f*ck with Wayne…if you number one and you ain’t getting no money it don’t mean nothing.”

Obviously Jay caught wind of the statement and put it in the new song.

Jay earned an estimated $63 million last year, Beyonce $87 million.

Wayne made $20 million while Birdman was not listed as one of the highest earners in Hip-Hop.

Listen to Jay-Z take shots at Birdman below.

Rihanna hosted a gig at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve, before heading over to an after-party at The Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino where Jay-Z had just performed for its grand opening.

Don’t get the wrong idea though; Beyonce was not too far away. She joined her hubby on stage for “Young Forever” before partying with her sister Solange at Marquee.

Beyonce Cops $350K Worth Of Birkin Bags From Jay-Z?

December 27th, 2010 | By love not hate

Looks like that shopping trip Jay-Z took to Hermes on Madison Ave. on Christmas Eve was for his wife afterall.  A source at the boutique says Mr. Carter spent hours in the store choosing $350,000 worth of Birkin bags and other merchandise for Mrs. Carter.

It’s no secret Beyonce loves her some Hermes Birkin bags.

And reportedly, her hubby Jay-Z just added to her collection…amongst other fab Hermes things…for Christmas.  According to the NY Post:

“Jay was in a private room of Hermes doing last-minute shopping. He had a guard standing watch outside. He spent $350,000 on Birkin bags, among other things.” The buying binge took so long, Jay-Z missed his scheduled lunch at Nello, prompting the restaurateur to deliver his food to the store.

Lunch from an uber pricey Upper East Side spot delivered to where you’re shopping?  Gotta love that ish.

And to put this into perspective, Birkins can range on average from $25,000 to $50,000 per bag.  So yeah…she def copped a few of ‘em.  Merry freakin’ Christmas
