Lil Wayne has settled a $1.5 million lawsuit with a producer who accused the rapper of failing to pay him for work on his 2008 album Tha Carter III.

David Kirkwood launched a legal battle against the hitmaker and bosses at Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment last year, alleging he was still owed royalties from the track Love Me or Hate Me.

But the How to Love hitmaker and his lawyers finally reached an agreement with Kirkwood this week and together they settled the case out of court, according to TMZ.com.

This marks the second suit he has resolved in recent weeks – Lil Wayne reached a confidential settlement with Grammy winner Darius Harrison in April after he claimed he was owed money for contributions to the same album.

Justin Bieber talks about Lil Wayne

When Justin Bieber was photographed with Lil Wayne back in February, fans got an insider look at the pair’s shared love for skateboarding. The singer and the Young Money MC were snapped standing on a half-pipe, skateboards in hand, chatting.

On Thursday, Bieber sat down with MTV News to premiere his video for “Boyfriend,” and he shared just how deep the rapper’s love for skating goes.

Justin Bieber Compares His Skateboarding Skills To Lil Wayne’s

“He just hit me the other night,” Bieber said. “I was going to go to his video shoot he had. He was skating here [in Los Angeles]. I was gonna go skate with him, but it was like 4:30 in morning [when] he called me. So it was really too late for that. He’s into skating, like that’s his life.”

When asked to rate his own skills versus Weezy’s, Bieber explained that it’s more complex than that. “I mean, it’s different,” he said. “I like more street stuff. He does a lot of vert stuff. Vert is like ramps and street is like rails and kick flips. [They're] different in their own right.”

After that initial photo of the pair leaked, many fans wondered if it means that Wayne will be spitting some rhymes on Bieber’s new album, Believe, out June 19. “No, he didn’t get the chance to work on the album,” he said. “He’s been super-busy and we just haven’t got the chance to connect in the studio. I was in the studio in Miami for a minute, but we never got the chance to do anything.”

Lil Wayne Sells 1 Million Albums In First Week

September 6th, 2011 | By love not hate

Initially projected to sell between 700,000 and 850,oo0 units in its first week, Lil Wayne’s new album Tha Carter IV, but reports have it that he’ll sell just shy of 1 million units! Many in the industry saw the negative reviews of Weezy’s new album and decided that he wouldn’t sell very much, but it seems fans didn’t care. Despite being leaked a few days early, Weezy still comes out strong and gives Kanye and Jay-Z a strong run for their money.

Lil Wayne has already broken record for ITunes single-week album sales, with 300,000 downloads in its first four days of the album release. Check it, that’s 10,000 more than Watch The Throne did…Who do you think will be crowned king?

lil wayne carter IV done and NEW SORRY FOR THE WAIT MIXTAPE

July 13th, 2011 | By love not hate

After months of delays, Lil Wayne has announced the release date of his ninth – and possibly final – studio album. Tha Carter IV, due on 29 August, will be preceded by an apologetic mixtape called Sorry for the Wait.

“The album is totally done,” Weezy confirmed on Tuesday to MTV News. “It’ll be out.” This is good news to fans of the Young Money rapper: originally promised for 16 May, the album was pushed back to 21 June. “He’s a perfectionist,” label boss Mack Money explained. This fourth volume in Tha Carter series will still use the previously revealed album cover, showing an even lil’ler Wayne in graduation gear.

Before the LP arrives, Lil Wayne will reward fans with a free 10-track mixtape. Like 2009′s No Ceilings, Sorry for the Wait will have Weezy rapping over other people’s beats. The mixtape’s only reported guest is Lil B.

In an interview in June, Lil Wayne warned his forthcoming album could mark his retirement. “Tha Carter IV might be my last one,” the 28-year-old told XXL. “I’m bowing out still on top … This is the real truth, I honestly think it’s unfair to my kids … [Aged] about 30, 31, 32, I gotta get ready [to retire].”

While Lil Wayne released Rebirth, a rock album, in 2010, he is mainly known for Tha Carter series. Although it saw only moderate success in the UK, Tha Carter III was the bestselling album of 2008 in the US, selling more than a million copies in its first week.

Lil Wayne Turns Down Recording With Justin Bieber

June 24th, 2011 | By love not hate

Lil Wayne has Justin Bieber’s best interest at heart. In fact, Wayne is such a good mentor to Biebs that he refuses to work with the teenage sensation in an effort to keep his untainted poster boy image squeaky clean.

For his part, Bieber has long been affiliated with the Young Money camp. Justin is close friends with YM member Lil Twist and just this past year was spotted out around town sporting the signature YMCMB sweatshirt leading many to believe he was the latest act to sign with the house of hits.

In his candid interview with XXL magazine Wayne elaborates on his relationship with the teenager and why he won’t lace Mr. Bieber with a few of those platinum Carter bars.

“That’s my little homie now,” Wayne told reporter Shaheem Reid. “He texts me every night asking me to do [his] d-mn song. That’s my n-gga, but I can’t do it. Like I said, I don’t want to f–k his sh-t up.”

While Justin Bieber might not exactly be on top of Wayne’s wish list another Justin is a collaboration the Cash Money rapper is looking to lock in before handing in his Carter IV album.

“But like I said, I want to work with Justin Timberlake” Wayne continued. “That boy got a voice; that boy can sing. He needs to come back right there on Tha Carter IV.”

The Lil Wayne XXL edition hits stands July 12.
